Prologue

My solo trip to Vietnam.

How reckless! However, I didn’t know it would be like this. When I told everyone that I would take a trip to Vietnam, I was told two questions. “Why do you want to travel alone?” and “why Vietnam?” Well, it could be due to my rebellious sprit that I didn’t want a “normal” trip. And I decided on my destination suddenly, so only one ticket was available. Most of all, I was so excited to go overseas. And I really wanted to experience “backpacking”, a style of travel for free-spirited people. At the same time, I had high hopes that I wanted mature and learn a lot about myself during this trip. As it turned out, my expectations for the trip were quite low, as the trip was more fantastic than I imagined. If someone is considering whether to take a trip alone or not, I would say, without hesitation “go right now!” I am sure you will get more than what you expect.

The very first reason why I chose Vietnam for my graduate trip was because the flight is really cheap (It is only 290 USD round trip!), and I could drop by Singapore with this ticket. But my reasons changed as time passed. The more I got to know about Vietnam, the more enchanted I became. So in the end, I happily left for my trip.

Somebody maybe curious to know why I have chosen to write about my travels, because I am not the best writer in the world! My memory of the trip is getting dimmer. I don’t want to forget this trip which was very meaningful for me. I am afraid that what I felt and saw could become a hazy memory. Therefore, it is better to write and capture these memories, rather than never write and forget my wonderful trip.
